Associate Minister

Vine Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nashville, TN is looking for an Associate Minister to join our team of excellent clergy and lay leaders.

Our ministry and staffing decisions are guided by our Future Story, a narrative vision of the church we will be in 2019 (see also the video on the home page of this site). We have identified additional leadership needs in four key ministry areas, and the successful candidate will offer excellent skills and passion in most of them.

Worship Leadership and Preaching - This continues to be the primary responsibility of the Senior Minister, but we are looking for someone to lead portions of our two morning services and preach with some regularity. We do not have plans for additional Sunday worship services, but are open to the possibility.

Communication - We have weekly bulletins (print), a weekly e-newsletter, a website with several blogs, a presence on Facebook and Twitter, a printed monthly newsletter, and many ideas for improving our communication internally and with the community at large. We are looking for a staff member to coordinate all communication efforts with the respective committees and support staff, to write well, to sharpen Vine Street’s communication via social media, and to update our website with regularity and ease.

Education - We are looking for additional staff support in the area of adult Christian education and spiritual formation, both in the traditional Sunday school time slot and with various small groups during the week; this support includes planning, coordinating, and teaching.

Pastoral Care - We want to develop a program of visitation that includes all members and their families. Currently we do not have the staff capacity for frequent, meaningful face-to-face encounters that extend beyond the core leadership, the homebound, and individuals in a time of particular need.

The salary range for this position is $36,000-$40,000
