The Vine Weekly: July 23, 2017

It's midsummer. Grab a glass of lemonade, enjoy these announcements and make plans to share in the life of Vine Street Christian Church!

Fitzpatrick House Celebration July 23

After worship Sunday we will give thanks to God for all the ways we’ve marked life’s milestones, shared faith-filled relationships and fostered healing within the Fitzpatrick House. This time to share memories and to close our ministry within the Fitz House is in anticipation of the upcoming sale of a portion of our property to Montgomery Bell Academy—which is on track to close in a few weeks. The church will provide light refreshments, and we will hear a few words from Ted Lee. Everyone will also have the opportunity to get items from the house during the gathering. Please join us!

Water Drive Wrap-up

Last Sunday our water drive to help our ministry partners at Open Table Nashville was a big success with over thirty cases of water collected. With the temperatures soaring here in Nashville, their work distributing water to our homeless neighbors is more important than ever. Thank you to everyone who helped support such an important cause so close to home.

Summer Fun Celebrates Ministry with Our Children

Hosted by the Children’s Ministry Committee, we’ll share hot dogs and homemade ice cream on Sunday, Aug. 20 from 5-7 p.m. on the church playground.

Monday: Luke 14:12

Volunteers are needed Monday as we serve with Luke 14: 12. Can you join us? We will serve lunch with this ministry from 11:15 a.m.-1 p.m. To sign up, contact Jeff Miller (jeff.miller@img.com). We’ll meet on the Room in the Inn campus, 705 Drexel Street, 37203.

Vine Street at the Movies Coming Soon

One of the dozens of films portraying Chinese folk hero Wong Fei-hong, Iron Monkey gives us a cross between the wuxia-style action movie and comedy. Here, the young Wong assists his physician father attending the sick. Meanwhile, the mysterious “Iron Monkey” carries on a Robin Hood campaign to help the poor and confound the Chinese authorities. Rated PG-13. Showtime is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2 in the bride’s room.

A Note of Thanks

Dear Vine Street, thank you very much for your gift of $1,565 to the Tennessee Disciples Mission Fund. It is great to have your support for regional church ministry. Your generosity says, “We’re all in this together,” and we get to experience that on a daily basis. We appreciate you helping us sustain the ministries that we do in the Christian Church in Tennessee. Your gifts are incredibly significant to the ministry we share together. Thank you again—Rev. Dr. Christal L. Williams, Regional Minister and President
