Financial Report July, 2010

The reality for the status of the operation budget is that our deficit is $21, 295 for the first six months of 2010.

On a positive note, our members have honored their pledges. Through six months we have received 97% of our pledged revenue. Expenses remain 11% under budget. Both of these are accomplishments we should be proud of. The cloud is the deficit that we knew going into this year. Another positive accomplishment is we have met our commitment to the Disciples Mission Fund with contributions of $9945.

Festival of Marriage and Family

The staff and board of the Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennessee, Inc. proudly invite you the First Annual Festival of Marriage and Family, August 7, 2010, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Belle Meade United Methodist Church, Nashville, TN 37205. The morning will begin with a continental breakfast and registration, followed by an address from Leigh and Rudy Kalis (of WSMV-Channel 4 Sports) about the importance of balance in marriages and families, and breakout sessions on topics chosen by participants.

General Assembly 2011 Nashville

Nashville will host the 2011 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) next summer. We are excited and honored to have this opportunity to show our friends from across North America and around the world some wonderful southern hospitality.

A Local Arrangements Committee has been established to accommodate the needs of all guests to the Assembly. We estimate that about 400 volunteers will be needed over the next year to implement the preparation and execution of the event, and we would like for as many people as possible in the Tennessee region to be involved.

Today We Rambled!

Every Wednesday morning, Vine Street, World Convention and Nouvelle Alliance staff members gather for conversation and prayer. We talk about the important things in our lives, our concerns for others, things we like and don't like. We laugh, sometimes cry, we pray together and begin our day with a since of comradery and friendship we didn't feel before. "We're actually on the same mission!" Today, we rambled!

It has been a pleasure to worship, live and grow with you all these past three years. You have provided me with a wonderful church home that has been supportive and life-affirming for me during my Divinity School years. But now I have been called to serve Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City as their Pastoral Resident for the next two years. There, I will be starting a college-aged ministry, work with single older adults and provide general congregational ministry services. So…I have my work cut out for me! But, with a faith in the God who makes a way out of no way and knowledge that I have a network of support that includes Vine Street, I feel confident in pursuing this opportunity.
