Living Waters for the World

We offer prayers for Westminster Living Waters, a clean water ministry of Nashville's Westminster Presbyterian Church and a partner with Living Waters for the World. A team will be traveling internationally this week to continue partnerships in South America. Joe Cheng and Ted Parks will be traveling, too, representing our new Vine Street Living Waters initiative.

Polly Duff

Polly Duff died on May 2 at the age of 89. She was a member of Vine Street for many years until she moved to Connecticut to be near her son in 2003. The funeral will be on Monday, May 5, 11 a.m., at Harpeth Hillls. We ask for prayers for her family, especially her daughter Patricia and son Gill. obituary

T. J. McLaughlin

We ask for your prayers for T. J., Katie, and Jack. T.J. has pneumonia and atelectasis in his lower left lung. He went home from the ER early this morning, but hasn't been able to rest because he's in so much pain every time he breathes. Children's Choir tonight has been canceled, and plans for Sunday morning (hymn sing) are on hold for now. Thank you for your prayers.

Vine Street Living Waters

As a next step toward launching Vine Street Living Waters—in partnership with Living Waters for the World—leaders are heading to Mississippi for training at Clean Water U. They include Joe Cheng, Rebecca Bachschmidt, Jim ClenDening, Bob Lyons, Joanne Jewett, Nancy Kleinert and Thomas Kleinert. We are praying for traveling mercies and God's blessing as they work and learn.

Roger Sledd

Roger Sledd died on Monday, April 14, 2014. We ask for prayers for his wife, Debra and for his family and friends.

Funeral services for Rev. Sledd will be Monday April 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Vine Street Christian Church, with Rev. Carson Salyer and Rev. Thomas Kleinert presiding. Visitation with the family will be immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. obituary

A Word of Thanks

We received a note from Jack Wallace: "I want to offer a personal word of thanks to everyone. As most of you know through our Vine Street prayer requests, my mother passed away on April 4. I appreciated the prayers, the cards and the personal expressions of sympathy so many of you sent my way. In this time of sadness, I learned once again the value of being a part of a community of faith."

Casey Sigmon

Casey Sigmon has received a letter of call from Central Christian Church in Springfield. She will serve as its part-time pastor beginning May 11. “I want to thank you for the care and leadership you have offered us through worship, but also through the community of care you have formed in your service to this community,” she shares about Vine Street. We celebrate with Casey, and are grateful to know she, along with Phill and Viola, will continue to be part of our community.
