Bess Louise Wilson Henderson died peacefully at her home on September 4, 2024 at age 87.  She was the daughter of Beatrice Lillian Greene Wilson and Paul Cressman Wilson, Sr.

Her husband, Bruce Doolin Henderson, founder of Boston Consulting Group, a worldwide firm, predeceased her.

She is survived by her brother, Paul C. Wilson, Jr. of Easton, MD, his sons Christopher (Andy) of Bridgehampton, NY, Jeffrey (Murphy) of Lexington, VA, Bradford (David) of NY, NY, Jonathan (Kathy) of Miami Beach, FL and his granddaughter, Lorna Wilson of NY, NY.  She is also survived by stepchildren Asta Werme (Bruce) of Murfreesboro, Bruce Balfour Henderson of Solana Beach, CA, Ceacy Henderson (Nancie) of Colrain, MA and Bruce Alexander Henderson (Valerie) of Myrtle Beach, SC, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, as well as her former daughters-in-law, Nancy G. Henderson and Cindy Catterson.

Prior to her marriage to Bruce, Bess worked at BCG in its early growth period in many different capacities, finally becoming Corporate Secretary and Assistant Treasurer.  As offices were developed worldwide, she traveled extensively.

Bess delighted in her Halloween birthday. Over the years she developed a large collection of Halloween memorabilia, with which she decorated the inside of her home for a buffet dinner she prepared herself, including baking her own birthday cake, for friends each year.

Bess was an avid stitcher.  Her beautiful needlepoint pieces were well displayed in her home and family and friends were often recipients of her handiwork.

She was a graduate of Green Mountain and Skidmore Colleges.

Bess was a member of Vine Street Christian Church, Belle Meade Country Club, Vanderbilt Womens Club, and an at-large member of Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was a long-time supporter of Insight Counseling Centers and served on the Board of Directors for many years.

A private family burial service will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Nashville, TN.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Vine Street Christian Church or Insight Counseling Centers.

Richard Coleman

Some of you may recall Richard Coleman and the Coleman family. With his wife Frieda, daughter Carla, and son, Colin, Richard was an active member of the Vine Street community. The Colemans moved to East Tennessee a number of years ago. Frieda passed away in 2017. Carla now lives in Texas and Colin lives here in Nashville. Last month, Richard completed the sale of his home in East Tennessee and finished his move back to Nashville.

Several weeks ago, Richard began experiencing confusion and memory issues. After medical review, Richard has been diagnosed with a highly aggressive and inoperable brain tumor, glioblastoma. He will undergo extensive radiation and chemo therapy to possibly slow its progression. This is very difficult news as you can imagine. Our prayers go out to Richard, to Carla, to Colin and to all of those close to Richard and the Coleman family.

Richard welcomes cards, thoughts and prayers. If you’d like to write him, his address is: Richard Coleman, 8300 Sawyer Brown Rd., Apt. R-301, Nashville, TN, 37221.

A note from Joan Fleming

Just wanted to thank you for the kindness and love we've been shown by the people of Vine Street Christian Church following the passing of my husband, John.

For quite a few days someone from Vine Street would show up at my door in the afternoon with food for the evening along with a little company. I've gotten to know some of you a little better, and it's been wonderful. Many thanks also for the gift cards for restaurants which were nice when we just wanted to get away from the house for a little while.

Thank you to Linda Brandau and all the ladies that prepared delicious homemade cookies and treats for the visitation. It made everything seem so special.

Thank you to the team that videoed John's Memorial Service and put it on Youtube. It has been watched by relatives from as far away as Virginia, Maryland, and New York. Incidentally they have been very complimentary about what a beautiful service it was. You filmed it beautifully too.

Thank you Micah for providing the piano accompaniment for the whole service and Abi for the beautiful solo of Amazing Grace. I immediately thought of you, Abi, when my daughter, Judy, requested that we have a solo during the service. That was so kind of you both to give some of your time on Sunday to do that.

When we first moved to Nashville so many years ago the neighborhood was surrounded by churches as it is now. We visited all the churches and chose to join Vine Street because we liked the people. So glad we chose this church. It has always been a blessing.

Sincerely,

Joan Fleming

Vaughn Woods

A recent arteriogram revealed that Vaughn Woods has several significant blockages in his coronary arteries. His treatment options are limited due to other health issues, and we hope that his medical team will come up with a good plan. Thank you for remembering him and Donna in your prayers.
