Northern Barred Owl, by Ed Cole

This northern barred owl flew into our neighborhood with the cold north wind and falling snow. It found shelter in this tree just up the street from our house. In this picture are significant ingredients of the time of Lent: peace, shelter, hope, true interest in the observer, and the readiness to soar yet again after the storm passes.

Zailiyskiy Alatau, by Quentin Flowers

In 2018, I was fortunate enough to travel to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. This picture was taken from a short peak in the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountain range near Almaty, Kazakhstan. My first thought when I got to this peak and looked out at the breathtaking view, was that this incredible art was just sitting here, and I had never even heard of its existence. There is so much beauty just beyond what we know.
