Trooper Janes

Trooper is the child of Adam Janes, Pastor of First Christian Church, Dover TN, and he is most appropriately named. He suffers from neurofibromatosis, and he had a 5-hour surgery today at Vanderbilt to insert a rod in his leg to straighten the bones that are twisted due to this condition. Trooper's parents are staying with Charlie and Camille Biter unti the family can return home to Dover. Charlie and Camille attend First Christian Church when they spend the weekend there. Thank you for your prayers for Trooper and his family.

McLaughlin family

T.J. is in Illinois for a few days to be with his mom. She is recuperating from mastectomy she had on Wednesday. The surgery went well and tests of surrounding tissue were encouraging; we hope with her that additional test results will be negative as well and that she will soon be well. Thank you for your prayers.

On February 10, 1952, Bronson Netterville was ordained at First Christian Church in McComb, Mississippi. Bronson has served many congregations and is Emeritus Regional Minister of the Christian Church in Tennessee. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of his Ordination to the Christian Ministry, Bronson will lead worship at Vine Street on Sunday, February 5. Congratulations, Bronson, and thank you for your years of faithful service!

Linda Edwards

Linda is mourning the death of her father, William Hawkins; he was a resident at The Meadows and died this morning after long illness. Linda's mother lives at The Meadows, and we ask that you keep her and Linda in your prayers.

Al Smith

Al has been battling a persistent strain of cellulitis since before Christmas. He has been hospitalized for treatment, and hopes to be discharged for rehab soon. Fortunately, his back has continued to get better. Al sends his greetings and hopes to join us in worship again soon!

Anniversary of the Tucson Shooting

A year ago, six people were killed and 13 suffered bullet wounds, when a gunman toting a semiautomatic pistol pumped bullet after bullet into a crowd gathered for a congressional outreach event outside a Tucson supermarket. U. S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords was shot through the head but survived; she is still recovering. We offer prayers of gratitude for the courage of ordinary people and the healing the survivors have experienced, and we continue to ask God "to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace (Luke 1:79)."
