We ask for prayers for Pat Bentrup. She is scheduled for knee replacement surgery on Wednesday, May 2. She had this procedure only four years ago, but has been in a lot of pain over the last few months.

Janice Elliott's son, Steve has been in the hospital over a week and hopes to go home soon. Prayers appreciated.

Michael Ligon
Mike was discharged on Thursday, and he is happy to be at home. His throat is still hurting, and he is very hoarse, but being with his family and sleeping in his own bed will help him get well soon. We are grateful that this frightening episode came to such a happy conclusion.

Mike is recovering from emergency surgery on Saturday. He had an abscess in his throat due to a strep infection. His recovery so far has been very encouraging, and we hope that he will soon be able to move out of the ICU. Please hold him and Sarah in your prayers.

Katharine is the grandmother of Malinda Moseley and Helen Trabue. She died in her sleep in the early hours of Saturday, April 14. Please remember her family in your prayers. The funeral will be on Tuesday in Memphis.

Chris Barr
Mr. Barr is mourning the death of his son, Chris Jr. He had diabetes, and died from complications after a recent heart attack. The funeral is this week in Texas. Thank you for your prayers for Mr. Barr and his family.

Jean Crowe
Jean is a good friend of Larry Adams's, and an attorney known in the community for her work on domestic violence issues. She has an inoperable brain tumor, and Larry asks that we keep her and her husband in our prayers.
Trayvon Martin
We ask for prayers for the parents of Trayvon Martin, for young African-American men who grow up with the weight of suspicion on their shoulders, for their parents, and for all of us. Fear and violence reside so close to each other in our hearts. Let us pray that we may learn to see each other's faces, and not merely projections of our own fear.
Tuesday update
Evelyn Goen, the mother of Larry Adams's friend, David, is not doing well. Evelyn lives in Kentucky and is a member of the First Christian Church in Frankfort.
Helen and Malinda's friend, Juanita, will have additional surgery this week to amputate a toe. She continues to struggle with circulation problems in her feet and hands.
Five of our children are preparing for their baptism on Easter: Boyd Berhow, Emily Berhow, Miller Freeman, Sarah Matthews, and Molly Lyons.

Tommy Cook, a member of the TNT Club, is hospitalized with kidney problems.
Jill Baker, a friend of Hope Hodnett, died on Saturday night after a ferocious battle with cancer. Jill was 44 years old and the mother of 4 children. We ask for prayers for the Baker family and friends.
Ted Parks
Ted and a group of Lipscomb faculty and administrators are traveling to Santiago de Chile this Sunday afternoon for a week, hoping to lay the groundwork for a university program there in spring 2013. We hope and pray they have a safe and successful trip.
