A Thank You Note

Dear, dear Friends,

There could never have been a lovelier, more uplifting tribute than the one you offered Bob last Friday Night. Someone said to me,"I've never felt so much love in one place." That's how I felt, too. I know Julia and T.J. put the touching musical aspects together. The Choir and the Madrigal Singers took my breath away. As my son said, Thomas was incredible the way he wove the tapestry of Bob's life with humor and poignancy. And what a magnificent reception that only Sharalena and Evelyn could commandeer. Our friends and family who were not "Vine Street-ers" were very impressed by the way the church pulled together to make the evening happen.

Thank you for the support you have given us for the last three and a half years.  I am very proud of the way Bob lived through those painful days and your cards, letters, thoughts and prayers kept him going.

With our love and gratitude,
Phoebe and Carolyn

Monday Update

Aaron and Dina Partington ask for prayers for Drew Gilmer, a co-worker of theirs. Drew was in a horrible wreck Saturday night which has left him in critical condition in intensive care.  He suffered multiple life threatening injuries including severe trauma to the head and at this point there is uncertainty on whether there is any brain activity.

We try to be very careful and not share addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, etc with our prayer requests, since we have no control over who reads them. Facebook is a different story, though, so this is a test balloon.

Tomorrow is Shirley Forstman's birthday! You may have already sent her a card. You may be thinking about calling her. Perhaps you even have a lunch date with her this week. But you could also write on her wall or send her a message via Facebook! Happy Birthday, Shirley!

Sunday Update

Anne Fairfield asks for our prayers and our help for Ms Wanda. She takes Park Manor residents to doctor's appointments, to the grocery store, or, as in Anne's case, to church. Ms Wanda lost her home and all her belongings in a fire last week; we are grateful that she is unharmed. If you would like to help Ms Wanda put her life back together after this terrible loss, please make your donation to the church, memo: Ms Wanda.

Al Smith

Al was treated for lung cancer six years ago. A recent test showed a tumor in his left lung; he will begin radiation therapy very soon, and the prognosis for this particular treatment option is very good. Please remember Al in your prayers in the days and weeks ahead.

Monday Update

Pat Bentrup is mourning the death of her friend, Sam Barnwell, and asks for prayers for her family.

Merle Horst, a friend of Pat Bentrup's, recently had a tumor removed from his brain. The tumor turned out to be cancerous. Please keep Merle, his wife, and three young children in your prayers.

Doug Branson is mourning the death of his cousin, Chris Quinn, who died recently.

Virginia Grimm was hospitalized on Sunday after experiencing severe chest pains. Tests showed that her heart is fine, and she should be able to return home later today or early Tuesday morning.
