Monday Update
We are mourning the loss of the children and adults who were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, December 14. Our capacity to take in and process such a tragedy is very limited. Most of our media offer us a lot of information within a very narrow time frame, and we know that after only a few days our attention will be drawn to other events, thoughts, and conversations.
We will attempt to remember those who have died and all who love them, and to allow that memory to shape our prayers as well as our thinking.
Each Sunday, we will speak one of the names in worship, and this practice will take until sometime in June. We will take some time to process this violent loss and to consider possible consequences.
On Sunday, December 16 we remembered Victoria Soto, age 27.
Dawn Baxter
Dawn received her MBA from University of Tennessee-Martin on December 15. John and Melba are the proud parents. Congratulations, Dawn!
Hope's dad
Hope Hodnett's father is recovering from a surgical heart procedure that took seven hours instead of 3-4 as expected. He is doing well, and Hope plans to be back in Nashville soon. Thank you for your prayers!
Bo Dee Jarman
Mark Jarman's mother, Bo Dee Foster Jarman died on December 1. She was a member of our congregation from approximately 1994 to 2006. Mark wrote, "There may not be many who remember her there, but she took great pleasure in attending and communing at VSCC for those years."
