We are mourning the loss of all the children and adults who were killed that day. Our capacity to take in and process such a tragedy is very limited. Most of our media offer us a lot of information within a very narrow time frame, and we know that after only a few days our attention will be drawn to other events, thoughts, and conversations.
We attempt to remember those who have died and all who love them, and to allow that memory to shape our prayers as well as our thinking. Each Sunday, we speak one of the names in worship, and this practice will take until sometime in June. We take time to process this violent loss and to consider possible consequences.
Al Smith
Plans are being made for Al to return to his apartment on Friday, where he will continue to receive hospice care. Thank you for continuing to remember him in your prayers. He appreciates your love.
