Elizabeth B. Mooty
We received an obituary note from Michael Mooty, retired pastor from Central Christian Church in Lexington, KY who spent early years at Vine Street where his parents were members while Michael’s father, Alex Mooty was on the Regional Staff.
Elizabeth Brewer Mooty died Sunday (of course) at the age of 96. Well done, good and faithful servant! A native Texan and graduate of Southern Methodist University, she was the wife of the late Alex Mooty, and is survived by her grateful family, sons Michael and Bob, daughter-in-law Sarah, soon-to-be-daughter-in-law Helen Beth, and two grandsons, Boone and Caleb. Elizabeth was a natural as a pre-school teacher, a voracious reader, and was always ready to extend a hand to people who needed a friend. She had little tolerance for grammatical mistakes by those who should know better (like her children), and persons who were ungrateful, proud, or hard of heart. Small in size and large in spirit, she will be missed by family and friends and welcomed as an interesting, lively addition to whatever awaits us. A time of grateful remembrance will be held Saturday, January 3 at 1:00 at Timberlake Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Timberlake Christian Church Memorial Fund or your favorite charity.
