We pray for Phoebe Binkley, who was in the hospital last week and is at Richland Place for additional care. We pray, too, for Carolyn Binkley, Phoebe’s daughter, who helps to provide care for her mother.

Christian Youth Fellowship Retreat
We are grateful for the beauty of Middle Tennessee's Bethany Hills Camp & Conference Center, and more for all the ways Christian faith is nurtured there. We celebrate our students who have been attending this weekend the regional youth retreat of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Tennessee, including Clare, Miles, Sarah and Molly.
A Sunday Update
We give thanks today for all the saints of Christ's church, especially those who have influenced our Vine Street Christian Church community.
We celebrate Erik Cole, who grew up in this church and is the son of Pat & Ed Cole. Erik was appointed this week by Mayor Megan Barry to be the director of the Office of Economic Opportunity and Empowerment. Congratulations, Erik!
We celebrate, too, Dr. Jim Crenshaw as Vanderbilt Divinity School and the Graduate Department of Religion at Vanderbilt University honored Jim last week with a Distinguished Alumni Award. Congratulations, Jim!

Andra Moran, a former Vine Street staff member and longtime friend of this congregation, shares news that she and her husband Stephen are expecting a baby girl in early March. They ask for our prayers and we share in their joy!

The Rev. Dennis Clark and his wife Cathy visited Vine Street Sunday from Oklahoma. Rev. Clark asks that we keep in our prayers his mother, Aileen Clark, who is in the hospital locally recovering from a massive stroke.

Anne Fairfield shares that her son and caregiver Mark Daugherty is in the hospital with a blood clot in his leg and lung. She asks for prayers for Mark, that he will be able to relax and to be aware of God’s presence. We pray, too, for Anne’s continuing peace.

James Thomas Trump was born on Monday, October 12. He weighed 6lb. 14oz. and measured 1'6". Emily and Mikeal are James's happy parents, and Henry is the very proud big brother. Welcome, James, and congratulations to the Trump family!

We offer prayers for the family of Kaki Friskics-Warren, a friend of Vine Street. Her mother Ava James died this week. Services will be Saturday in Midland, Texas.
World Communion Sunday and More
Vine Street Christian Church had the privilege Sunday morning of celebrating World Communion Sunday with our sister congregation, Nouvelle Alliance. We are grateful for the spirit of unity and peace we receive from Christ, and we pray we will carry this spirit into the world for all.
Tom McAninch, a Vine Street friend and former choir member, has returned home from the hospital where he was receiving care for pneumonia. Tom welcomes our prayers as he continues to recover.
Phoebe Binkley expresses gratitude for all the ways the Vine Street Christian Church community has supported her these past few weeks. She is home now, continuing to feel better.
The Family of Joe Crowell
Joyce Crowell and her family invite you to join them as they celebrate the life of Joe Crowell tomorrow, Sept. 29, from 3-7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at Vine Street Christian Church. Joe died on Saturday morning. Friends are invited to stop by the church to share a hug or a story or two. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1 in Enka, North Carolina.
