Phoebe Binkley had surgery last week to relieve some pain in her spine. She is now home and feeling a little better. "I have rough days and I have better days," she says, "and prayer has kept me going." So, along with her daughter Carolyn, Phoebe asks for our prayers for her comfort. She notes she continues to keep Vine Street Christian Church in her prayers, too. And for that we say thank you.
We learned Mark Edwards, who once made Vine Street his church home, died Monday, Feb. 29. He is mourned by his faithful friends George Tidwell and Alan Bachrach, as well as by his former wife, Linda Edwards. May God grant peace to all in the wake of this loss.
A celebration of life remembering Margaret Netterville will be on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at West Harpeth Funeral Home (6962 Charlotte Pike). Margaret died Thursday evening.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, March 6 from 2-6 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Click here to read the obituary.

Several of our teenagers will be representing Vine Street Christian Church this weekend at the Tennessee Regional Christian Youth Fellowship retreat at Bethany Hills. Please keep in prayer Clare Crenshaw, Miles Kleinert, Crawford Lyons, Sarah Matthews and Molly Lyons. Rev. Hope Hodnett will be among the retreat leaders.
We’ve learned Margaret Netterville is in the hospital with a broken hip following a recent fall. And, after follow-up tests, doctors have discovered she has other complications, including bone cancer. Much to her disappointment, Margaret will not be able to go back to her assisted-living community; plans are being made for her to move to a nursing-care community. She and her family ask for our prayers as they adjust to this news and these changes.
We ask for prayers for Donna Woods. Her uncle, Dr. Richard Brown of Montgomery, AL died on Friday unexpectedly. He was like a father / older brother to her all of her life. Please remember her and all who love and miss Richard in your prayers.
Bryce Dixon’s uncle, Howard Young Hardison, has died. The funeral will be Sunday, Feb. 21 in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Please keep this family in your prayers.
A memorial service for Anne Fairfield will be Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Vine Street Christian Church. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Anne died on Sunday, Feb. 14. Please keep Anne’s daughter, Megan, and her sons, Scott and Mark, in your prayers, along with all those who love Anne.
Arrangements are being handled through Nashville Funeral and Cremation. Anne’s body will be cremated; interment will be in the Vine Street columbarium at a later date. Here’s a link to the obituary.

We're grateful to share that Kat Young’s grandson was born on Friday night. The boy’s parents are Tommy and Malea Young. The family lives near Louisville, Kentucky. Congratulations to all!
David Johnson asks for our prayers on behalf of his parents, Paul & Mary Ann Johnson. The Johnson family has a long history with this church. (David serves now as the director of Bethany Hills Camp & Conference Center.) Paul has serious memory challenges and it’s a struggle for Mary Ann (as it would be for all of us) to provide for all of his care needs. We pray for God’s guidance and reassurance as this family seeks support and care.
Shelton Pilkinton and his family shared a note, saying, "We'd like to thank our friends for the visits, cards, phone calls, prayers and thoughts during Betty's illness." Betty died Jan. 25. We continue to hold this family, and all who grieve, in our prayers.
Gabriel Forstman, the grandson of Shirley Forstman, died at age 40 after long illness. Gabriel had lived with parents, Conni and David, in Germany. Thank you for holding the family in your prayers.
Mikeal Trump asks for our prayers. He works with a student-athlete at Hillsboro High School whose mother died recently and is now grieving that loss.
Also, Mikeal’s grandmother, who lives in Indiana, has been in the hospital this week with a bad infection. Though she is doing better now, doctors are still working to clear the problem. We pray for her healing and for family members near and far who are offering support.
Phoebe Binkley has been in the hospital this week. She had surgery on Wednesday and says that it seems things went well. She says she is in good spirits! Phoebe is grateful for all the ways Vine Street Christian Church friends have encouraged her through recent illnesses. She asks for our continued prayers, as we remain in her prayers.
Longtime Vine Street Christian Church member Betty Pilkinton died Monday. She was 87 years old.
The funeral will be on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Vine Street Christian Church. Visitation with the family will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
