A Sunday Update

Among our prayers today in worship were the following joys... Mary Ramsey Keith was born Saturday to Jude & Gibson Keith! Johanna Keith is the proud aunt and the delighted grandparents are Julia & Joe Keith. Everyone is doing well, for which we are grateful!

For 10 years, T.J. McLaughlin has provided successful, creative leadership to the Chancel Choir and to our music programs for all ages. We celebrate him today, extending our gratitude, as well, to his family—Katie, Jack and Ellen—for sharing T.J. with us.

Thanks be to God for all the joy in our lives together as Vine Street Christian Church!

Chi Rho Retreat

The Tennessee regional Chi Rho spring retreat for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students is this weekend at Bethany Hills. Representing Vine Street Christian Church will be Grant Gao, Miles Kleinert and Rev. Hope Hodnett. Please keep students and counselors in your prayers.

Phoebe Binkley

Phoebe Binkley had surgery last week to relieve some pain in her spine. She is now home and feeling a little better. "I have rough days and I have better days," she says, "and prayer has kept me going." So, along with her daughter Carolyn, Phoebe asks for our prayers for her comfort. She notes she continues to keep Vine Street Christian Church in her prayers, too. And for that we say thank you.

Mark Edwards

We learned Mark Edwards, who once made Vine Street his church home, died Monday, Feb. 29. He is mourned by his faithful friends George Tidwell and Alan Bachrach, as well as by his former wife, Linda Edwards. May God grant peace to all in the wake of this loss.

Margaret Netterville

We’ve learned Margaret Netterville is in the hospital with a broken hip following a recent fall. And, after follow-up tests, doctors have discovered she has other complications, including bone cancer. Much to her disappointment, Margaret will not be able to go back to her assisted-living community; plans are being made for her to move to a nursing-care community. She and her family ask for our prayers as they adjust to this news and these changes.

Funeral Arrangements Announced for Anne Fairfield

A memorial service for Anne Fairfield will be Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Vine Street Christian Church. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Anne died on Sunday, Feb. 14. Please keep Anne’s daughter, Megan, and her sons, Scott and Mark, in your prayers, along with all those who love Anne.

Arrangements are being handled through Nashville Funeral and Cremation. Anne’s body will be cremated; interment will be in the Vine Street columbarium at a later date. Here’s a link to the obituary.

The Johnson Family

David Johnson asks for our prayers on behalf of his parents, Paul & Mary Ann Johnson. The Johnson family has a long history with this church. (David serves now as the director of Bethany Hills Camp & Conference Center.) Paul has serious memory challenges and it’s a struggle for Mary Ann (as it would be for all of us) to provide for all of his care needs. We pray for God’s guidance and reassurance as this family seeks support and care.

Trump Family and Friend

Mikeal Trump asks for our prayers. He works with a student-athlete at Hillsboro High School whose mother died recently and is now grieving that loss.

Also, Mikeal’s grandmother, who lives in Indiana, has been in the hospital this week with a bad infection. Though she is doing better now, doctors are still working to clear the problem. We pray for her healing and for family members near and far who are offering support.

Phoebe Binkley

Phoebe Binkley has been in the hospital this week. She had surgery on Wednesday and says that it seems things went well. She says she is in good spirits! Phoebe is grateful for all the ways Vine Street Christian Church friends have encouraged her through recent illnesses. She asks for our continued prayers, as we remain in her prayers.
