Thursday prayers

Eric Hutton asks for prayers for his parents. His dad, who is suffering from Parkinson’s, has a partially diagnosed heart issue and has to wait until December 23 for a follow-up appointment. As you can imagine, this is a very stressful time for the family.

Bess Henderson will be traveling to Miami on December 17, where she is scheduled for surgery the next day. We hope with her that, after many set-backs, this procedure will be successful. Thank you for continuing to keep her in your prayers.

Linda Parker is back home after a visit to Seattle. She is resting and recuperating from cataract surgery. Please continue to lift her up in prayer.

Prayers for Donna's family

Donna Woods asks for our prayers for Pam Bridges. Pam is the mother-in-law of Donna’s son, James Barr, and she has not only been a vibrant part of Donna’s family for nineteen years, but a close friend of Donna’s. Pam was just diagnosed with an inoperable, fast growing brain tumor.

We also offer prayers for Donna’s husband, Vaughn, whose vision and movement are declining, and for two years they have been trying to get a diagnosis. They hope to get a neurology appointment at the Mayo Clinic soon. Thank you for surrounding this family with your prayers and loving thoughts.

Dan McGeachy

Dan McGeachy, a good friend of Vine Street and former member of the chancel choir, died on Wednesday, November 6. A service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3201 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville TN 37215. There will also be a visitation before the service between noon and 2 p.m. at the church.

Tuesday prayers

Rachel Dixon asks for our prayers for the family and friends of Win Myint, especially his children Anna and Arnold. Their mother died about a year ago. Win died early Monday morning. Rachel wrote, “He was a dear, sweet soul, TSU math professor and social justice advocate. We will miss him.”

Thomas Kleinert’s uncle, Hans Simon, died on Sunday at age 90 in Schönau/Germany. He was the brother of Thomas’s mother, Anneliese, and the family is grateful that he died at home, as he wished, in the house where he had grown up. The family will gather for a memorial service on Thursday, and Thomas will be joining them. He will fly out on Wednesday and expects to be back on Friday. Thank you for keeping him and the family in your prayers.

Sondra Lee

After a successful hernia surgery on Friday, Sondra was discharged Monday but readmitted Tuesday (again at St. Thomas) with a great deal of pain. They are hopeful that doctors and caregivers will be able to manage and relieve the pain so that she is able to return home soon. Both she and Ted appreciate your prayers and the way you care.

Allyn and Erin Maxfield-Steele

On Tuesday, September 10, Erin gave birth to a lovely and healthy child. All three, and especially Erin, are exhausted after nearly 72 hours of labor. The three will be taking time to eat, rest, heal, and revel in sacred wonder for the next little while. If you’d like to send them a word, please send a note to maxfieldsteelefamily@gmail.com. Please do not share any of this on social media. Erin and Allyn invite you to join them in giving thanks for this gift of new life!
