Prayer Request 8/22/2022

We have several prayer requests in the life of our community:

Please keep the McLaughlin family in your prayers. Katie’s mother, Cindy Crego, will be undergoing back surgery tomorrow (August 23rd). The family anticipates a fairly long recovery period. Katie will be out of the office later this week to help care for Cindy.

Rachel Dixon asks for prayers for her cousin, Bob Register, who has COVID.

We pray for Tom Hubbard as he grieves the death of wife, Linda. Tom and Linda were members who moved to Florida. Long time members may remember Linda as one of the main coordinators of the Valentine’s Day BBQ lunch.

Thank you for your prayers and the ways you care for those in our community near and far.

Prayer Request: Hutton/Heath Families

Please keep Eric, Allison, and Sarah Hutton in your prayers for Allison’s mother, Marie Heath, and Allison’s sister, Tiffany Heath. Tiffany has begun chemotherapy to address her breast cancer diagnosis that she received in May and has had some severe and uncomfortable reactions.

Marie’s health continues to decline and family is beginning to have conversations with Palliative Care to prepare for possible hospice care in the future.

May we offer prayers of comfort, discernment, and peace in the days and weeks ahead for Eric, Sarah, and especially Allison.

Prayer Requests: August 6, 2022

The Wednesday morning group exploring and practicing prayers have several concerns and celebrations that they would like the congregation to lift up in prayer:

Fay Delk celebrates with Les and Mary Jane Jones on the birth of their grandson, Graham.

Jane Short asks for prayers for her friend, Jennifer, having a double mastectomy.

Abi Flowers asks for prayers for family friend, Joe, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Melissa Freeman asks for prayers for her aunt, Deborah, who has undergone her first chemotherapy treatment.

Thank you for your prayers and for the ways you care!

Bell Lecture Update: June 26th, not June 12th

Virginia Bell still has her big birthday on June 30th and would still love to hear from Vine Street friends! But past Thomas wasn’t here to know that our Bell Lecture has been rescheduled for June 26th, not this Sunday as originally planned. We invite you to join us in person or online to hear Rev. Teresa Kim Pecinovsky 10:00 am June 26th as we celebrate Wayne Bell and his legacy.

Once again, Virginia’s address is: 220 Clinton Rd, Lexington, KY 40502

Hutton Family

The Hutton Family asks for prayers in a time of great transition. Allison’s sister, Tiffany, will begin chemo treatments for breast cancer in the next 2-3 weeks. Their mother, Marie, will return home from rehab this week, requiring some in-home care. Allison began a new job and she and Eric are searching for a new home. May they receive wisdom and knowledge, sanity, and reassurance in the days and weeks ahead.

The Hutton family

Allison Hutton’s sister, Tiffany Heath just received a breast cancer diagnosis, and she is very scared as to what’s ahead. She will meet with the surgeon in a couple of weeks.

Allison and Tiffany’s mother is currently in rehab after a recent fall, and she is dealing with dementia type issues, so they will have to make difficult decisions about her living situation.

Allison and Eric have sold their home and are looking for a new place to live. We hope that amid all these big changes, they will be able to find peace, comfort, and courage in the presence of God. Thank you for remembering the Huttons and Tiffany in your prayers.

Wednesday prayers

Heather Hill’s mother, Karen Hill, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in Paducah, KY. She was 69 years old. Thank you for your prayers for Heather and the family. Read the obituary

Larry Adams ask for prayers for his friends, Jim Hodtiz and Ed Emerick. They just learned that the cause of Ed’s breathing problems is a tumor on his brain. Tests showed that it is a colon cancer metastasis.

Joyce Crowell

Joyce Crowell has been hospitalized since Wednesday for various tests. Results indicate that she has a blockage in one of her coronary arteries; she will remain hospitalized, and is scheduled to have a stent placed in the obstructed vessel on Monday. Thank you for your prayers.

Friday prayers - heartbreak and great joy

Tallu Schuyler Quinn

“Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4

Dear Tennessee Regional Church Family:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the Rev. Tallu Schuyler Quinn. Tallu moved from this earthly life to her eternal home on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Let us pause - all over the Christian Church in Tennessee - to thank God for a glorious life well lived. One who leaves her touch on all she encountered. Her legacy of love, commitment, and light will be remembered for times to come. Tallu was the founder of the Nashville Food Project, member of Woodmont Christian Church, and lover of Bethany Hills Camp.

Keep in prayer Robbie Quinn (husband), and two beautiful children. Please pray for Tallu’s parents Thomas and Sarah Schuyler, siblings, and the entire Schuyler-Quinn families. Pray for all those who loved her and were blessed by the power of her friendship.

As more information becomes available, we will share it with our entire region.

God Bless each of us, as we lean on the love of the one who holds, comforts, and supports us during these times of sadness and grief.

Thank you, God for the life of Rev. Tallu Schuyler-Quinn

Navigating this journey in prayer,

The Rev. Dr, Christal L. Williams
Regional Minister & President
The Christian Church in Tennessee

Lucas Cormac Tarpley

David and Sara Tarpley are excited about the arrival of Lucas Cormac Tarpley, born in the early morning of February 18 to their son Andrew and wife Allison. Welcome to the world, Lucas!

Thursday prayers

Linda Parker is hospitalized. Thank you for remembering her in your prayers.

Katie McLaughlin is in quarantine after testing positive for Covid on Wednesday. We’re grateful that so far it’s only been “run of the mill crud with just a little more headache.”

Jack Wallace will have major surgery on February 10. Thank you for lifting him up in prayer, along with the surgical team.
