On Sunday we said good-bye to Rick McVicar. He will be moving back to Ohio in a few days to live closer to his mother. We ask God's blessing on this new chapter of his life.

On Sunday we welcomed Michael, Casey and Parker Jo LeBuhn as members of our congregation. They moved to Nashville last year when Michael became a student at the Vanderbilt Divinity School.
Easterling family
We ask for prayers for Diane Easterling, Lena, Beverly, and Beth, and all who love Emily. Emily died on Thursday.
Update: Anne Blackwell Arrangements
Family and friends of Anne Blackwell will give thanks to God and celebrate Anne’s life at a memorial service Monday, Feb. 12 at Vine Street Christian Church.
Visitation with the family begins at 1 p.m. in the Sanctuary with the service at 2 p.m. A reception will be held in Vine Street’s Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
We continue our prayers for Anne's family and friends, especially Pat and Ed Cole and Erik, Jen, Owen and Alice Cole. Anne died Jan. 18.
Joyce Register
Joyce Register, Rachel Dixon's mother, is in the hospital with respiratory and cardiac problems that are sapping her strength. Thank you for your prayers.

Anne Blackwell died this morning at Richland Place, which had not only been her home for the past ten years, but had become part of her extended family. Anne was 97 years old. Please keep Pat and Ed, Erik and Jennifer, Owen and Alice, and all who love Anne in your prayers. We will share funeral plans when the arrangements have been confirmed.

Charles Hester
Charles Hester, the father-in-law of Ted Parks, died last night in Chattanooga. We ask for prayers for all who love him, especially Karen, Jacob, Ben and Ted. The funeral will be on Sunday in Chattanooga.
Kathy Zamata
Congratulations, Kathy Zamata, who retired recently from serving with the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability. For her next act, she plans to volunteer, plus do some contract work for the state later down the road. Way to go, Kathy!
Charles Hester
Charles Hester, the father-in-law of Ted Parks, is gravely ill and receiving hospice are. We ask for prayers for Charles and all who love him, especially Karen, Jacob, Ben and Ted. Charles lives in Chattanooga, and Ted and Jacob are traveling this weekend to see him.
The Dixon family
We ask for prayers for the Dixon family. Juanita Von Almen, Rachel Dixon's aunt, died on January 2 in Warner Robbins, GA. This is especially sad news for Rachel's mother, Joyce Register, who has lost her sister.
Payson Matthews
We ask for prayers for the Matthews family. Payson Matthews, the father of Blake Matthews, died on January 2 in Somerville, TN.

Michael Lee, son of Ted and Sondra, has received a stem cell transplant; we hope it will help eradicate his leukemia.
Carrie Jeffries, Greg Rumberg's aunt, is hospitalized with an infection and other health issues.
We remember those who don't have adequate housing during these cold days and nights, and those who operate emergency shelters across the city. Vine Street will host an emergency shelter on Wednesday night as part of Room in the Inn. Our thanks to the volunteers who make this life-saving ministry possible!

Sondra and Ted Lee ask for our prayers on behalf of their son, Michael. He will have a stem cell transplant Christmas Day as he continues to be treated for leukemia.

Charlie Biter has been dealing with cancer treatments this year. He shares he received this week a very positive pathology report! We give thanks to God for all the ways Charlie and his family knows healing in their lives!
We Pray to the Lord...
We hold in our prayers the family of Eric, Allison and Sarah Hutton. Allison’s mom, Marie Heath, broke her elbow from a fall at her home this week. Eric’s mom, Karen Hutton, is recovering from hip replacement surgery following a fall.
We’re grateful some of our young adults have been able to reunite and get away for the weekend at Christmount in North Carolina. As they return home today, we hope for traveling mercies for: Kevin Clark, Rico Carls, Alex Cauthen, Alex Chumbley, Clare Crenshaw, Elizabeth Crenshaw, Kara Reed, Kalie Rhodes, Savvy Lyle, Ellen Matthews, Johanna Keith and Elena Nourabadi.
And finally, the pomp and circumstance has concluded: Thomas Kleinert received his doctor of ministry Saturday during a graduation ceremony at Lipscomb University!
Sunday Prayers
In worship this first Sunday morning of Advent, we offered our prayers, remembering Donna and Vaughn Woods, who ask we pray for Miriam Woods, Vaughn's younger sister. Miriam became very ill Tuesday and had emergency surgery this week.
Please be mindful the visitation for Leigh Ann Zirkle's mom, Sue Ann Peffen, will be today and the service will be tomorrow. Details are here.
We are are grateful Linda Parker, a friend and former minister of this church, received good news. She has been dealing with cancer, yet last week the results of a recent PET scan reveal she is now cancer free. We rejoice with Linda, Kennedy, Grant and all who love Linda.
Charlie Biter's surgery went well, Camille Biter reports, and we look forward their return this week to Nashville. Also returning this week are our friends who are traveling in Germany discovering Luther and the joys of Advent.
Finally, we give thanks to God for our bookkeeper Linda Bussey, who retired last week. We wish her all the best as she begins a new chapter in her life.
