Mary Ann Johnson is believed to be nearing the end of her life. Please surround her and her family with your prayers. Her son, David, is keeping vigil at her bedside, and her daughter, Colleen, is on her way to Nashville from Colorado. Her son, Paul, who lives in New York, is not able to come and visit due to pandemic restrictions.

Virginia Fielder

Virginia Dodge Fielder, frequent visitor to Vine Street prior to the pandemic, asks for prayers for her native Wayne County and, in particular, for Waynesboro First Christian Church. To date, 12 Wayne Countians have passed away from COVID-19, including a prominent physician (whose death led to one of only a few mask mandates in rural Tennessee counties) and, at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, a man whose family membership at First Christian dates from the 1920s. Virginia also has lost a second cousin and Wayne Countians with whom she attended school to COVID-19. Thank you for remembering them in your prayers.

Thursday prayers

Lyn Dorris’s dad, John, after weeks of not feeling well and inconclusive tests, has been hospitalized. Please remember him and his family in your prayers.

Jean and Orlan Lorton, the parents of Helen Trabue and Malinda Moseley, are in quarantine until December 12 after testing positive for Covid 19. Both only have mild symptoms, and we pray for their swift and full recovery.

We are grateful that Larry Adams and David Goins are doing much better, though they continue to experience fatigue

Thank you for remembering all of them in your prayers along with the first responders and .health care workers who are caring for the sick in this pandemic.

Tuesday prayers

Katie McLaughlin’s grandmother, Dorothy Hood, has been diagnosed with COVID. She is 94 years old, living in a nursing home, and has other medical conditions that make her a high risk patient. She is currently not showing any COVID symptoms, and we hope with Katie and the whole family, that she will soon recover from the infection. Katie and her sister have not been able to see their grandmother this year.

Larry Adams asks for prayers for his partner, David Goin. David’s administrative assistant was recently diagnosed with COVID, and a few days ago he fell ill as well. He has tested positive, and hopefully his symptoms will continue to me mild until he fully recovers. Larry has been tested and he expects to be diagnosed with COVID as well.

Thank you for your prayers and for your efforts to keep each other safe! Please continue to remember the hospital workers, from doctors and nurses to orderlies and chaplains, who are working at great risk to their own health, on the verge of exhaustion, and still facing rising numbers of infections.

A note from Virginia

Dear Vine Street:

Thank you so much for the calls, texts, cards and other support related to my serious eye surgery on October 1. I am happy to report that my recovery has proceeded even better than expected. No doubt, your thoughts and prayers contributed mightily to this success.

All the best, and I hope to “see” all of you before too long.

Joe Keith

Joe Keith has some good news to share!

“I am very happy to report that my scan results show good progress with my treatment to the point where Dr. Gibson says I am, in his mind, in maintenance mode. I will still get treatments, but scaled down to hopefully calm the side effects.”
