Sweet Potato Drop Wants You

Here’s a question: Why are sweet potatoes able to get so much work done? Because they’re not couch potatoes! Nope, no couch potatoes here! Our Super Duper Sweet Potato Drop is Saturday, April 7 at 8:30 a.m. We’ll gather in Fellowship Hall. Vine Street and Alameda Christian Churches are joining forces to bag 20,000 pounds of sweet potato goodness! We’ve pledged to provide at least 60 volunteers—are you willing to be one of our yam-tastic helpers? This hands-on ministry opportunity is in partnership with the Society of St. Andrew benefiting local food ministries. Please let Hope Hodnett know you’re coming (hope@vinestreet.org).

Sprucing Up the Place

Vine Street is having a spring outdoor work evening at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 15. We will prepare for Easter by trimming bushes, collecting sticks & trash, and working in the front flowers beds, among other things. Help spruce up the grounds and see your church friends at the same time. Please bring your garden tools such as pruners, loppers, spades, shovels, rakes and hedge shears, etc. Don’t forget to wear your gloves! Let Greg Rumburg know you’re coming (greg@vinestreet.org).

Volunteer to be Part of TNT Easter Party Fun

How about joining us the afternoon of March 25 to help celebrate the joy of Easter? We are hosting our TNT friends from 2-3:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. (Yes, that means you can be part of the Easter egg hunt!) Volunteers begin arriving as early as 12:30 p.m. to decorate and hide eggs. Contact Rev. Hope Hodnett (hope@vinestreet.org) to help. TNT Club is a community ministry for adults with developmental disabilities. They meet monthly for social gatherings, and volunteers of all ages are a necessity.

Women to Meet

Serenity Circle will meet on March 13. Ladies, please join us at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. We are a varied group who meets the second Tuesday of most months to share dinner, conversation, or maybe discuss a book. We keep our ears open for ways to serve the church and our community, too. If you’d like to be added to the email list, contact Kathy Zamata.

Prayer Group Gathering Wednesdays

Folks participating in Wednesday Prayers gather in the Chapel at noon weekly (on Wednesdays, of course). Using a particular pattern, we offer prayers for our congregation and world. With its roots in prayers offered previously by Vine Street elders, everyone is invited to participate. Will you join us from time to time? We follow a printed liturgy for about 20-25 minutes. Contact Julia Keith for more information.
